Fox 45 Toys for Tots

Friday morning from 0545 till 0900 Hamilton Young Marines assisted the Marines of 4th CEB with a Toys for Tots event during the Fox 45 Morning show. The Young Marines we outstanding in their support and despite the cold had a great time. Check out all the pictures HERE.

Operation Christmas Tree

On saturday December 4th the Hamilton Young Marines assisted in packing over 3800 trees that will be shipped overseas to the men and women serving in our armed forces. An outstanding time was had by all during this great event. Check out all the pictures HERE.

HAMILTON YOUNG MARINES TO RAISE MONEY AT LEDO’S PIZZA IN WHITE MARSH FOR THE WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT HONORING AMERICA’S VETERANS

White Marsh, MD (Oct. 31, 2009) – The Hamilton Young Marines are hosting a Spirit Night a Ledo’s Pizza in White Marsh on Wednesday 11 November 2009 to raise money to be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project Honoring America’s Veterans. The event is scheduled for 5pm-10pm. 20% of the evenings receipts will be given to Hamilton Young Marines to donate to the Wounded Warrior Project. The public is invited to attend the event and have dinner with the Young Marines.

This event is part of the 9
th Annual Young Marines Veterans Appreciation Week, sponsored by the Young Marines. Young Marine units throughout the nation are planning events in their local communities. The campaign is designed to give Young Marine members the opportunity to come together on a national level for a common cause, to honor our veterans.

“The purpose of the campaign is to challenge our Young Marines to dedicate some of their time to help our veterans and demonstrate, through their actions, their appreciation for our veterans’ service to our country,” said LtCol Mike Kessler, National Executive Director of the Young Marines.

The nationwide campaign is being celebrated 7–15 November 2009.

The Young Marines is the U.S. Marine Corps’ official youth program to the Department of Defense for youth Drug Demand Reduction efforts. The Young Marines is a 501c(3), tax-exempt, youth educational organization. This event is coordinated by the Hamilton Young Marines in cooperation with Ledo’s Pizza of White Marsh.

Drug Demand and Promotion

The Young Marines had the pleasure of participating in an outstanding drug demand class taught by YM LCpl Mattucci. Honor Guard Detail

For the first time in Hamilton Young Marine History we had to provide an Honor Guard Detail for Funeral and Burial services for Corporal Lee V. Blackwell, USMC. Cpl Blackwell a former Hamilton Young Marine was memeber during highschool and entered the Marine Corps immediately following graduation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and frineds. We are greatly honored for having the opportunity to be part of the Angel Watch during the viewing and Honor Guard during the burial services.

March of Dimes - March for Babies

Thank you to all of the Young Marines and Recruits who helped out with the MArch of Dimes March for babies event. The day started at 0445 as the Young MArines and Recruits worked hard in setting up the event. At 0800 the Young Marines and Recruits we dispersed along the 5 mile route to motivate and support the walkers and runners. With over 500 people in attendance the Young Marines and Recruits had a great time helping out for an outstanding event. Despite the rain that did not let up all day the Young MArines and Recruits kept all everyone in attendance motivated.

Community Service Project

On Saturday we had a Community Service Project. Our task was to clean up a yard of an old house. The person living in this house past away suddenly and the famliy ask for our help in cleaning the debris out of the yard. All Young Marines and Recruit present did an outstanding job. Well Done!! During our last drill the Young Marines had the pleasure of learning a valuable skill that they will need to use several times as they grow older. Public Speaking is a key skill for all leaders and the Young Marines were exposed to it Gunny Style.

Recruit Class Information Meeting

Saturday January 24th at 1100hrs we will be holding an informational meeting regarding our upcoming spring Recruit Series. If you are interested in becoming a Young Marines please plan on attending. The Spring Recruit Class will start March 14th.

Winter Encampment

Frozen Chosin IV is scheduled for February 20-22 2009. Below is the Gear list for the encampment.

Young Marines are required to bring sleeping bags rated for temperatures in the Teens if possible.

Gear List:
- Full utilities w/ belt (no ribbons)
- Boots (if Uniform boots are not winter boots substitute winter boots. Black or dark Brown)
- Watch Cap(black knit or fleece)
- 2 Canteens w/ belt or hydration system(be advised hydration systems had a tendency to freeze last year.)
- Skivy drawers (3 sets)
- Red National T-shirt
- Underwear cold weather gear(i.e. long johns, under armour)(1-2 pairs)
- Boot Socks(6 pair)
- PT Gear( sweats) (2pair)
- Field jacket/Gortex (Heavy winter coat preferably black or OD green)
- Winter Gloves/Waterproofed if possible(Black)
- Rain Gear
- Hygiene Kit: Soap,shampoo,toothbrush,toothpaste,deodorant,etc. as needed
- Towel
- Sleeping Bag(rated to temp in the teens)
- Alice Pack(ruck, molle,etc.)
- Note taking gear
- Flashlight w/extra batteries
- Trashbags or Ziploc bags for waterproofing
- Medication must be in a ziplock bag with child’s name and in the prescribed container with dosage instructions. Only bring enough medication for the weekend. Medication is to be given to DOC upon arrival.

NO YM’S WILL BE CARRYING KNIVES!!!!

This is what I recommend. Bring more if you want however remember you will be carrying it.
